Role
Antares is hiring a Nuclear Operations Engineer to help turn its nuclear programs into deployable operating approaches and to help run its reactor systems. The role sits in the Nuclear Operations organization, developing the operational programs that let test and deployed reactors be started and operated in line with the design basis, safety basis and plant programs, and supporting training of operations personnel.
Responsibilities: Help ensure safe and efficient operation of reactor experiments and plant facilities. Own nuclear training programs for operators and maintenance personnel, and identify staffing needs and develop the procedures, personnel and programs required for operation. Lead technical discussions and working groups with internal and external stakeholders, and feed lessons back to engineering and program teams to make deployments more repeatable. The engineer is expected to obtain Reactor Operator and Senior Reactor Operator qualifications for test and deployed reactors.
Requirements: Two or more years of experience in nuclear, aerospace, defense or another highly regulated technical environment, experience delivering complex multidisciplinary systems or projects, and a demonstrated ability to connect technical, regulatory and operational requirements into executable plans. Candidates must work well in ambiguous, fast-paced settings and communicate clearly with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Preferred experience: A BS, MS or PhD in nuclear, mechanical, chemical, aerospace or related engineering; reactor operations, startup, commissioning or deployment; nuclear safety and compliance programs; work with customers or regulators; and U.S. Navy nuclear program, national laboratory or commercial nuclear experience.
Working arrangements: Under U.S. export regulations (ITAR), applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees or asylees, or be eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
