Senior Civil and Structural Engineer – Reactor Deployments

Role

Antares is hiring a Senior Civil and Structural Engineer for its Reactor Deployments team, which takes the Antares R1 microreactor from the factory to operational service. The engineer leads civil engineering for commercial, defense and government deployment sites, developing standardized, repeatable site designs.

Responsibilities: Evaluate prospective sites for geotechnical, drainage, utility, access, environmental and permitting constraints. Design grading, stormwater systems, access roads, equipment pads and underground utilities, and develop layouts for reactor silos, balance-of-plant, electrical and security infrastructure. Coordinate geotechnical investigations and foundation design with structural engineers. Support heavy-haul logistics, crane studies, permitting, construction and commissioning, and prepare calculations, drawings and cost estimates.

Requirements: A bachelor's degree in civil or mechanical engineering or a related field and six or more years of civil engineering experience on industrial, power generation, energy, defense or large infrastructure projects. Candidates need site development experience, construction document preparation, multidisciplinary coordination, working knowledge of civil codes and standards, and strong communication skills.

Preferred experience: A Professional Engineer (PE) license, a master's degree, work on nuclear facilities, military installations or energy infrastructure, geotechnical and foundation design, EPC construction support, modular facility design, and familiarity with DOE, NRC, Department of War or Department of the Army requirements.

Working arrangements: Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and be able to work at DOE, Department of Defense, Army and commercial nuclear facilities. The role involves travel of up to 30% and extended hours and weekends at critical milestones. The company's Los Angeles-area facility is in Torrance, California. Under U.S. export regulations (ITAR), applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees or asylees, or be eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
