Role
Antares is hiring a Senior Nuclear Engineer to become responsible engineer for a key component of its reactor design, such as reactivity controls and instrumentation, radiation shielding, fuels, materials, thermal hydraulics, safety or licensing. The role leads technical work and mentors junior engineers in a growing team.
Responsibilities: Depending on assignment, lead complex neutronics modelling and multiphysics analysis and own the nuclear design and integration of assigned components. Develop modelling and simulation methods and tools, coordinate verification and validation, and interface directly with regulators on licensing and compliance. Lead prototype testing and experimental campaigns, keep design margins across neutronics, thermal hydraulics, structures, materials and operations, and define qualification and testing requirements, including use of startup, commissioning and power ascension data.
Requirements: A master's degree or PhD in nuclear engineering, physics or a related field; deep experience with MCNP, Serpent or SCALE; and experience with multiphysics simulation (thermal hydraulics, structural, heat transfer), reactor kinetics, safety analysis or integrated systems modelling.
Preferred experience: Advanced Python or C++ skills; high-temperature gas, heat-pipe-cooled, microreactor, TRISO fuel or other advanced reactor design; success in DOE, NRC or DoD regulatory processes; transient and systems codes such as SAM, AGREE or PARCS; shielding and variance-reduction tools such as ADVANTG, MAVRIC or Attila4MC; reactor commissioning and power ascension testing; integrated nuclear-thermal-mechanical analysis of graphite and high-temperature steels; and qualification of fuels and materials through analysis, irradiation and testing.
Working arrangements: Under U.S. export regulations (ITAR), applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees or asylees, or be eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
