General Matter is hiring a Quality Engineer, Manufacturing to help build its quality program from the ground up. Working with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain and operations, the engineer sets quality standards, inspection methods and processes for development and production work and helps develop the quality management system.
Responsibilities: Write quality procedures, work instructions, inspection plans and control plans, and define inspection requirements from engineering drawings. Select and implement inspection equipment, measurement tools, fixtures and automated inspection methods, and lead first article inspections, process validation and quality planning for new products. The engineer leads root cause investigations and corrective actions, supports material review board work, manages supplier corrective actions and audits, tracks quality metrics, trains inspectors and production staff, and supports customer audits and source inspections.
Requirements: A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering or a related field and at least five years of professional experience in manufacturing, development or production engineering. Candidates need proficiency in a 3D CAD package such as SolidWorks, CATIA or NX, the ability to produce manufacturing drawings using GD&T, hands-on experience building hardware and evidence of exceptional ability.
Preferred experience: Three or more years in manufacturing quality engineering, plus quality planning, process validation, root cause analysis, statistical methods and continuous improvement. Experience with inspection equipment, metrology and measurement systems, supplier quality and audits, quality management standards, and PC-DMIS and Verisurf software is also preferred.
