Integration and Test Engineer

Everett, Washington, US · $138,000–$182,000 a year

Role

Helion is hiring an Integration and Test Engineer to lead cross-subsystem integration and testing for its current and future fusion generator prototypes. The hands-on role reports to a Mechanical Engineering Lead and carries responsibility through build and commissioning phases.

Responsibilities: Own the integration sequence and day-to-day assembly across generator subsystems, including vacuum systems, electromagnets, high-voltage capacitor systems, controls, diagnostics and radiation safety. Manage a daily and weekly multidisciplinary schedule through build completion, and define, plan and run integrated subsystem tests with subsystem owners. Lead build completion reviews for operational and test readiness, write technician work instructions for nominal builds and non-conformance resolution, and lead root cause analyses and corrective actions.

Drive hardware upgrade and replacement strategies to maximize uptime, improve integration and build processes with production, test and engineering teams, and perform trade studies on build sequencing, hardware prioritization and resource allocation.

Requirements: A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field and at least three years of professional experience delivering full-scope engineering projects, including schedule ownership. Demonstrated first-principles and structured problem solving, hands-on experience across several disciplines such as mechanical, electrical and fluids, and effective technical communication across functions and organizational levels.

Working arrangements: The role is onsite at Helion's headquarters in Everett, Washington. The application states that the position requires compliance with U.S. export-control laws and asks about U.S.-person status, U.S. work eligibility and sponsorship needs.
