Kairos Power is hiring an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to implement environmental programs and support regulatory compliance. The specialist works directly with operating teams and regulators, with responsibility for environmental reporting, permits and hazardous-waste practices.
Responsibilities: Develop environmental programs, conduct inspections and audits, prepare regulatory documentation, and coordinate waste disposal with vendors. Develop and deliver training, investigate incidents and corrective actions, and support other EHS functions. The role includes first-responder duties and Emergency Response Team membership.
Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related field and 3+ years of EHS-program experience. Applicants need demonstrated experience preparing incident reports, incident action plans and after-action reports, supporting training-content development and coordination, and collaborating across departments. Environmental regulatory knowledge, hazardous-material and waste-management knowledge, and the ability to respond to urgent requests are expected.
Preferred experience: Relevant professional certification and environmental compliance work in manufacturing, R&D, laboratories or similarly regulated operations are pluses, not requirements.
Working conditions: Onsite duties include climbing, confined spaces, moving objects up to 35 pounds, temperature extremes, and manufacturing areas with oil, grease, dust and occasional fumes. Beryllium handling and appropriate protective equipment are specified. Travel may reach 10%; occasional schedule flexibility and seldom weekends, nonstandard hours or extended hours are listed. Work requires authorization to access 10 CFR Part 810-controlled information; foreign nationals from countries outside DOE’s general authorization list need a company-held DOE export-control license.
