Kairos Power is hiring an Environmental Health and Safety Lead to develop industrial safety, industrial hygiene and environmental programs across research, construction and operations. The role coordinates site compliance for employees, contractors and vendors and addresses gaps in safety programs and operating practices.
Responsibilities: Oversee job hazard analyses, inspections and audits, hazardous-material and waste processes, and safety training. Investigate incidents, implement preventive measures, analyze industrial-hygiene data and maintain emergency-response plans. Work with HR on workers’ compensation and return-to-work processes.
Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety or a related field, plus 5+ years in safety management, regulatory compliance and program development. Applicants need EHS regulatory knowledge, manufacturing/R&D understanding, data-analysis and reporting skills, cross-functional leadership, and a record of strengthening safety culture and reducing recordable incidents. The certification section lists CPR and OSHA 10 and requires capability to obtain forklift, scissor-lift, articulating-boom or related certifications.
Preferred experience: An environmental or industrial-hygiene focus is a plus. CSP, CIH or a similar certification is preferred.
Working conditions: Onsite work includes heights, confined spaces, machinery, moving objects up to 50 pounds, temperature extremes, noise, chemical fumes and beryllium-containing materials. Appropriate protective equipment includes respirators. Travel may reach 10%; occasional schedule flexibility and extended hours, with seldom weekend or nonstandard hours, are listed. Work requires authorization to access 10 CFR Part 810-controlled information; foreign nationals from countries outside DOE’s general authorization list need a company-held DOE export-control license.
