Role
Kairos Power is hiring a Manager, Manufacturing Operations to lead shop-floor execution for reactor-development components, prototypes and test assemblies. The manager coordinates machining, welding, fabrication and assembly while balancing approved schedules with changing research-and-development needs.
Responsibilities: Verify work-order readiness, including materials, tooling, drawings, staffing and equipment. Coordinate shop capacity and priorities with planning and production control, manage equipment maintenance and repairs, contribute to design reviews, and operate or program manufacturing equipment when needed.
Requirements: At least 10 years in fabrication, welding and/or CNC machining, including at least 5 years managing teams in those disciplines. Applicants need demonstrated CNC experience with mills, lathes, routers and 3-axis/5-axis equipment; fabrication, welding inspection and quality-program experience; and application of relevant ASME and ISO 9001 requirements. Experience in high-mix, R&D, prototype or rapidly changing manufacturing and coordinating schedules, priorities and capacity is required. Capability to obtain forklift and boom-lift certification is expected.
Preferred experience: CAD/CAM tools such as Mastercam and SolidWorks, and work with stainless steel, piping, pressure vessels, graphite and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code are preferred. Ability to qualify in ASME B31.3 GTAW or D1.1 structural GMAW welding is desirable.
Working conditions: Onsite duties include machinery, heights, confined spaces, hazardous materials, noise, fumes, temperature extremes and moving objects up to 50 pounds, with protective equipment. Some travel may be required, stated as up to 10–20%. Occasional nonstandard hours, weekends or extended shifts support critical timelines. Work requires authorization to access 10 CFR Part 810-controlled information; foreign nationals from countries outside DOE’s general authorization list need a company-held DOE export-control license.
