Kairos Power is hiring an Operations Engineer, Salt Production Facility to own process-system performance from design completion through commissioning, startup and routine operation. The engineer translates design requirements into operating limits, procedures, training and field practices.
Responsibilities: Maintain the technical basis for equipment, chemistry, controls and safeguards. Review design changes, perform process and fluid-system calculations, analyze plant performance and troubleshoot equipment. Support acceptance testing, field walkdowns, system turnover, process-hazard reviews and engineered improvements.
Requirements: A B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, Materials or Nuclear Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, plus 3+ years of relevant engineering experience in chemical processing, power generation, manufacturing, nuclear or similar industrial work. Applicants need experience applying engineering fundamentals to process systems, equipment performance, troubleshooting or plant improvements, and working with piping and instrumentation diagrams, equipment data sheets, calculations, control narratives and vendor information. Safe industrial-plant work and clear communication with engineering and operations personnel are required.
Preferred experience: Chemical-system design, construction, commissioning or operations; process safety management, hazard analyses or management of change; and hydraulic/pneumatic analysis using AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow or similar software. Equipment troubleshooting, procedures and testing, vendor/material acceptance, and root-cause improvement work are also preferred.
Working conditions: Onsite work includes moving objects up to 50 pounds, temperature extremes, outdoor and noisy industrial areas, heights, color identification and protective equipment. Travel may reach 20%; occasional weekends, schedule flexibility and extended hours are required. Work requires authorization to access 10 CFR Part 810-controlled information; foreign nationals from countries outside DOE’s general authorization list need a company-held DOE export-control license.
