Role
Kairos Power is hiring a Software Engineer, Cyber Physical Systems to connect applications, plant data and physical infrastructure. This early- to mid-career role supports industrial operations, test systems and tools within the Instrumentation, Controls and Electrical department.
Responsibilities: Build operator tools, PostgreSQL-backed applications and APIs connecting software, databases, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems and programmable logic controllers. Support live industrial applications, develop data-analysis and anomaly-detection tools, and improve testing, deployment and documentation.
Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering or Data Science, or equivalent experience. The role calls for 2–4 years developing applications, services, scripts, APIs or data integrations. Programming experience in one or more languages/tools such as Python, Java, React, JavaScript or TypeScript, and PostgreSQL or another SQL relational database, is required.
Preferred experience: Ignition Perspective or similar SCADA/human-machine-interface platforms, PLCs and Rockwell Studio 5000, CI/CD and deployment automation, engineering analytics, hardware-oriented environments, and cybersecurity/data-governance practices are preferred, not required. Non-relational database experience is a plus.
Working conditions: Onsite work includes ladders/access equipment, confined spaces, moving objects up to 10 pounds, hand tools, fixture assembly, noise, fumes and temperature extremes, with protective equipment. Some travel may be required at 10%, with occasional overtime, weekends or nonstandard hours. Work requires authorization to access 10 CFR Part 810-controlled information; foreign nationals from countries outside DOE’s general authorization list need a company-held DOE export-control license.
