Role
Kairos Power is hiring a Systems Engineer to translate stakeholder needs and program objectives into verifiable requirements and integrated nuclear-energy systems. The role coordinates engineering disciplines, licensing, quality, operations, suppliers and external partners across the engineering lifecycle.
Responsibilities: Develop and trace requirements, functional and physical architectures, interfaces and verification strategies. Lead focused cross-functional activities and technical reviews, assess proposed changes and system-level dependencies, and improve engineering processes while mentoring less-experienced engineers.
Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in Systems, Mechanical, Nuclear, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field, and relevant professional experience applying systems-engineering methods to complex programs or products. Applicants need experience developing, allocating, maintaining and tracing requirements, plus at least one of functional analysis, architecture, interface management, integration, verification/validation or change-impact assessment. Experience coordinating technical reviews or leading focused cross-functional work and strong technical communication are required.
Preferred experience: Nuclear or another highly regulated industry, Jama Connect or similar requirements tools, model-based systems engineering, nuclear quality/licensing practices, design reviews and configuration/baseline management are preferred. Familiarity with ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 or INCOSE guidance is also preferred.
Working arrangements: Remote work is offered alongside office locations. Some travel and occasional schedule flexibility or extended hours may be required. Periodic laboratory, test and manufacturing work requires protective equipment. The quoted pay range applies to onsite Alameda employees. Work requires authorization to access 10 CFR Part 810-controlled information; foreign nationals from countries outside DOE’s general authorization list need a company-held DOE export-control license.
