Role
Oklo is hiring an External Hazards Regulatory Engineer to develop licensing strategy and support technical analyses of seismic events, flooding, weather and human-caused hazards affecting advanced reactor facilities.
Responsibilities: Scope and review internal and contractor hazard studies, integrate results into design-basis evaluations and probabilistic risk assessments, and identify mitigation measures. Track NRC guidance, prepare regulatory strategy documents and coordinate responses to requests for additional information.
Requirements: At least three years performing or evaluating external-hazards assessments, with a bachelor's, master's or PhD in civil, environmental, nuclear engineering or a similar field. Candidates need technical expertise in facility hazard impacts, risk-informed and deterministic safety analysis, and hazard modeling. Familiarity with licensing and safety-case development, interpreting regulations and preparing or reviewing submittals is required. IBC and ASCE code familiarity and clear technical communication are also sought.
Preferred experience: Experience with Nuclear Regulatory Commission or Department of Energy requirements and the International Building Code.
Working arrangements: Remote staff must visit Santa Clara headquarters twice per quarter. Onboarding requires two weeks in Santa Clara. Export controls may limit eligibility to U.S. persons; offers depend on necessary authorizations. Employment may require drug screening and subsequent testing. A résumé and cover letter are required.
