Oklo is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer - Fuel Manufacturing to develop equipment and mechanical systems for fuel-fabrication facilities. Work spans concept design, analysis coordination and fabrication readiness through vendor production and site assembly support.
Responsibilities: Own equipment designs, controlled CAD models, drawings and bills of materials. Coordinate thermal and structural analyses, conduct design and manufacturability reviews, and work with fabrication partners and consultants on practical production and ASME compliance.
Requirements: A bachelor's or higher in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline. The stated range is 5–10 years of experience, including at least four years of industry mechanical/structural design. Candidates need 3D CAD proficiency such as SolidWorks, PDM/PLM version control, design-for-manufacture/assembly, tolerance stacks and GD&T under ASME Y14.5 or similar standards. Metals selection, manufacturing/fabrication knowledge, technical communication and collaboration with analysis teams and external suppliers are required.
Preferred experience: Large weldments and joints, safety-critical components, full-cycle hardware delivery, large-component fabrication/handling, high-temperature thermal mechanics, radiation effects, ANSYS and Python.
Working arrangements: Remote work is offered, with a preference for candidates local to Idaho Falls. Remote staff must visit Santa Clara headquarters twice per quarter. Offers depend on satisfying applicable export controls, including necessary authorizations. Employment may require drug screening and subsequent testing. A résumé and cover letter are required.
