Role
Oklo is hiring a Nuclear Commissioning and Startup Engineer to take facilities from construction through testing, turnover and initial operation.
Responsibilities: Develop test plans, prerequisites and acceptance criteria. Coordinate walkdowns and turnover, monitor test data, resolve deficiencies, exercise stop-work authority and document system acceptance. Complete plant-operator or other technical qualifications as assigned.
Requirements: A bachelor's in nuclear, mechanical, electrical, chemical or another relevant engineering/technical discipline; equivalent directly applicable nuclear, commissioning or operational experience may be considered instead. At least five years in commissioning/startup, nuclear operations, testing, field engineering, power generation, naval nuclear propulsion, national-laboratory operations, construction completion or another highly regulated technical environment is required. Candidates need hands-on complex-system experience, controlled test procedures, requirements-to-test translation, technical drawing/manual interpretation, configuration/work control and field troubleshooting skills. Independent judgment, multidisciplinary coordination and technical writing are essential.
Preferred experience: Nuclear/first-of-a-kind startup, reactor-operation roles, current or former NRC RO/SRO credentials or naval nuclear qualifications, sodium systems, formal test governance, turnover, acceptance testing, nuclear quality assurance and corrective actions.
Working arrangements: Remote between site assignments lasting several weeks to several months. Required work may include shifts, extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays, business travel, and obtaining/maintaining unescorted nuclear-facility access if required. Remote staff must visit Santa Clara headquarters twice per quarter. Onboarding requires two weeks in Santa Clara. Export controls may limit eligibility to U.S. persons; offers depend on necessary authorizations. Employment may require drug screening and subsequent testing. A résumé and cover letter are required.
