Role
Oklo is hiring a Nuclear Operations Engineer to translate plant designs and safety requirements into operating programs and procedures for commissioning, startup and routine operation.
Responsibilities: Develop operating methods and normal, abnormal, emergency and surveillance procedures. Provide design-review input, support turnover/testing and readiness, and improve training and control-room interfaces. Complete plant-operator or other technical qualifications as assigned.
Requirements: A bachelor's in nuclear, mechanical, electrical, chemical or another relevant engineering/technical discipline; equivalent directly applicable nuclear operational experience may be considered instead. At least five years in nuclear operations/engineering, commissioning/startup, power generation, naval nuclear propulsion, national-laboratory operations or another highly regulated technical environment is required. Candidates need controlled-procedure/program experience, integrated mechanical/electrical/I&C/process-system knowledge, requirements-to-operations translation and technical drawing/safety-analysis interpretation. Cross-disciplinary problem-solving, independent judgment and technical writing are essential.
Preferred experience: Nuclear operator roles, current or former NRC RO/SRO credentials or naval nuclear qualifications, advanced/sodium reactors, commissioning and readiness, operational programs, human factors, simulators, nuclear regulation and operator training.
Working arrangements: Primarily remote, with travel and temporary onsite assignments. Shifts, extended hours and weekends may be required for major project activities. Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear-facility access is required if needed. Remote staff must visit Santa Clara headquarters twice per quarter. Onboarding requires two weeks in Santa Clara. Export controls may limit eligibility to U.S. persons; offers depend on necessary authorizations.
