Process Engineer - Fuel Recycling

Oklo is hiring a Process Engineer - Fuel Recycling to develop chemical-separation and supporting systems for its recycling facility. Potential subsystems include pyroprocessing, off-gas separation and waste immobilization.

Responsibilities: Define system requirements, performance criteria, validation methods and test protocols. Size equipment, specify instrumentation, and produce process flowsheets, heat/material balances and P&IDs. Deploy and operate test systems, refine designs from results, and prepare fabrication, commissioning, operating and regulatory documentation.

Requirements: A degree in chemical engineering or a related field and at least seven years of experience in chemical engineering or a related field. The role requires clear technical writing and verbal communication, cross-functional collaboration and the ability to learn quickly while solving evolving process-design problems.

Preferred experience: AspenTech, ChemCAD, Promax, automation, Excel or Python for process/equipment design, reliability studies and economic analysis. Pilot-plant work and demonstration-to-industrial scale-up at brownfield or greenfield sites, plus commercial or government nuclear experience, are advantages.

Working arrangements: Remote staff must visit Santa Clara headquarters twice per quarter. Onboarding requires two weeks in Santa Clara. Export controls may limit eligibility to U.S. persons; offers depend on necessary authorizations. Employment may require drug screening and subsequent testing.
