Role
Oklo is hiring a Process Engineer, Isotopes to develop fluid and process systems for isotope production, recovery, separation, purification and handling. The role supports safe, scalable production while maintaining product quality and contamination controls.
Responsibilities: Specify piping, pumps, compressors and heat exchangers, develop prototypes and maintain process-system design bases. Produce flow diagrams, P&IDs, mass/energy balances and operating envelopes. Coordinate vendors, evaluate process hazards, and prepare documentation for commissioning, operations and regulatory filings.
Requirements: A bachelor's in mechanical, chemical, nuclear, radiological, materials, aerospace, petroleum or a related engineering discipline. At least five years designing, analyzing or modifying fluid, thermal or process systems in nuclear, radiopharmaceutical, isotope-production or related industries is required. Candidates need systems-design and integration fundamentals and the ability to apply process engineering to radioactive materials, chemical separations, gas/liquid handling, thermal management, contamination control and product quality.
Preferred experience: Relevant nuclear, isotope, pharmaceutical or laboratory work; off-gas, ventilation, filtration, vacuum or controlled atmospheres; radiochemistry, shielding, radiation protection or ALARA; and prototyping, commissioning, equipment testing or system ownership.
Working arrangements: Remote staff must visit Santa Clara headquarters twice per quarter. Onboarding requires two weeks in Santa Clara. Export controls may limit eligibility to U.S. persons; offers depend on necessary authorizations. Employment may require drug screening and subsequent testing. A résumé and cover letter are required.
