Oklo is hiring a Radiological Waste Engineering Lead - Early Deployments to establish waste-management strategies across reactors, fuel-cycle and isotope facilities, from design through operations.
Responsibilities: Define characterization, treatment, packaging, storage, transport and disposal approaches. Establish waste acceptance pathways, tracking systems and vendor relationships, contribute to licensing and safety analyses, and minimize lifecycle waste through facility design. Lead technical reviews and mentor engineers.
Requirements: A bachelor's in nuclear, chemical, mechanical, environmental engineering or a related discipline and at least 10 years in radioactive-waste engineering/management, fuel-cycle engineering or nuclear-facility operations. Candidates need classification/characterization and treatment/disposal knowledge, technical documentation skills, and familiarity with 10 CFR Parts 20, 61, 70, 71 and/or 72 and DOT radioactive-material transport regulations. Familiarity with DOE/NE O 435.1, DOE M 435.1 and DOE O 474.2 is specified.
Preferred experience: An advanced related degree, NRC licensing or DOE approvals, fuel-cycle/isotope facilities, waste-acceptance documentation, transport-package selection/certification, commercial disposal criteria, multidisciplinary leadership, and a PE license or ability to obtain one.
Working arrangements: Remote staff must visit Santa Clara headquarters twice per quarter. Onboarding requires two weeks in Santa Clara. Export controls may limit eligibility to U.S. persons; offers depend on necessary authorizations. Employment may require drug screening and subsequent testing. A résumé and cover letter are required.
