Role
Oklo is hiring a Recycling Operations Engineer Lead to establish the operating model for its nuclear fuel-recycling facility. The role represents operations through design, construction, commissioning, startup and production ramp-up.
Responsibilities: Develop controlled operating concepts, system boundaries and readiness criteria. Review PFDs, P&IDs, layouts and control narratives for operability, maintainability and remote handling. Build staffing, procedures, training, maintenance and turnover plans while integrating safety, security, safeguards and material-accountability requirements.
Requirements: A bachelor's in chemical, nuclear, mechanical, electrical, industrial or another relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent directly applicable experience. At least 10 years in nuclear fuel-cycle, nuclear, chemical, petrochemical, refining, specialty-chemical or another complex process environment is required. Candidates need significant operations/commissioning/startup/maintenance experience combined with design or capital-project support, greenfield or brownfield experience, and operational-program development. Engineering-document review, translating designs into operating/test criteria, multidisciplinary leadership and technical writing are essential.
Preferred experience: Fuel-cycle or radioactive-material facilities, pyroprocessing, molten salts, hot cells, first-of-a-kind delivery, NRC/DOE requirements, readiness/HAZOP reviews, controls, reliability and operations-team development.
Working arrangements: Remote staff must visit Santa Clara headquarters twice per quarter. Onboarding requires two weeks in Santa Clara. Export controls may limit eligibility to U.S. persons; offers depend on necessary authorizations. Employment may require drug screening and subsequent testing. A résumé and cover letter are required.
