Role
Oklo is hiring a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Reactor Module to own large weldments and assemblies for Aurora powerhouses, including vessel, internal-support and primary-coolant components. Engineer III/Senior level depends on experience.
Responsibilities: Advance module hardware from concept to fabrication readiness, maintain controlled CAD models and drawings, and coordinate structural, thermal and safety analyses. Conduct manufacturability and tolerance reviews and manage fabrication partners and consultants supporting ASME compliance.
Requirements: A bachelor's or higher in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline and at least eight years of industry mechanical/structural design experience. Candidates need 3D CAD proficiency such as Siemens NX, CATIA or SolidWorks; PDM/PLM design control such as Teamcenter, SolidWorks PDM or Windchill; and design-for-manufacture/assembly and tolerance-stack knowledge. GD&T under ASME Y14.5 or similar standards, metals/materials selection, fabrication methods, cross-functional teamwork and technical communication are required.
Preferred experience: Large weldments/joints, ASME BPVC Sections III or VIII, safety-critical hardware, full-lifecycle delivery, large-component fabrication/transport, high-temperature thermal mechanics and radiation effects.
Working arrangements: Remote staff must visit Santa Clara headquarters twice per quarter. Onboarding requires two weeks in Santa Clara. Export controls may limit eligibility to U.S. persons; offers depend on necessary authorizations. Employment may require drug screening and subsequent testing. A résumé and cover letter are required.
