Oklo is searching for a Senior Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer responsible for performing criticality safety evaluations, developing the nuclear criticality safety basis, and architecting the nuclear criticality safety program for a first-of-a-kind used nuclear fuel recycling facility.
Specific responsibilities include identifying and evaluating nuclear criticality safety hazards for fuel cycle facilities; performing criticality safety evaluations demonstrating subcriticality under normal and credible abnormal conditions; developing the criticality code validation report; demonstrating double-contingency compliance; documenting hazard analyses, evaluations, and supporting technical information; evaluating and implementing controlled parameters; developing the criticality accident alarm system and inadvertent criticality emergency response plan; and supporting safety basis development, licensing efforts, and program administration including methodologies and management measures.
Minimum qualifications require a bachelor's, master's, or PhD in nuclear engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, or a related field with at least 5 years performing criticality safety evaluations as part of a nuclear facility safety basis; bonus qualifications include used nuclear fuel recycling knowledge and 10 or more years of evaluations for an NRC-licensed fuel cycle facility, with proficiency in Attila4MC, MCNP, SCALE, or Serpent and familiarity with NUREG-1513, NUREG-1520, NUREG/CR-6410, NUREG/CR-6698, NUREG/CR-7311, and NRC RG 3.71.
