Oklo is hiring a Sodium Test Engineer to develop and operate experimental platforms for advanced nuclear technology. The work spans design, fabrication, commissioning, operation and modification of molten-sodium systems.
Responsibilities: Turn engineering data needs into test plans and laboratory procedures, coordinate readiness and test execution, and assess data validity, uncertainty and repeatability. Produce materials evaluations, failure analyses and technical reports, and improve laboratory calibration, maintenance and safe operating practices.
Requirements: A bachelor's in mechanical, chemical, nuclear, materials engineering or a related technical field. Demonstrated knowledge of or experience with molten sodium or another molten alkali metal is required, alongside test/operating procedures, engineering calculations or technical-report experience. Candidates must interpret P&IDs, process-flow diagrams, equipment drawings, electrical/instrument schematics and vendor documents. The role requires moving objects up to 30 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred experience: Hands-on sodium loops, high-temperature piping, heat tracing, freeze protection and thermal expansion, ASME B31.3 or pressure-equipment codes, ASME NQA-1 and an advanced related engineering degree.
Working arrangements: Role-specific travel is up to 10%. Travel to headquarters or another designated location twice per quarter is required. Onboarding requires two weeks in Santa Clara. Export controls may limit eligibility to U.S. persons; offers depend on necessary authorizations. Employment may require drug screening and subsequent testing. A résumé and cover letter are required.
