Role

Pacific Fusion is hiring an Infrastructure Electrical Engineer to oversee the integration of facility electrical equipment for its fusion demonstration system, which is designed to achieve net facility gain. The engineer works with design consultants and contractors during construction, then takes responsibility for operating, maintaining and upgrading that equipment.

Responsibilities: Develop requirements and guidelines for building electrical systems, including electrical infrastructure, backup power and energy management systems. Gather electrical inputs from engineers, scientists and technicians. Work with the Infrastructure Design Team so systems are documented and designed for permitting, construction, commissioning and operations. Prepare commissioning, maintenance and operations plans, and oversee operation and future upgrades of the building electrical systems.

Requirements: At minimum a BS in electrical engineering and 7+ years of experience in design, construction, facility operations and commissioning at industrial, manufacturing or research facilities. Candidates need experience with medium- and low-voltage AC and high-voltage DC systems, knowledge of the NEC and NFPA 70E, hands-on facility commissioning and operations experience, and strong multidisciplinary program management skills.

Preferred experience: A PE license, startup experience, and work in fusion, energy, aerospace or chemical industries.

Working arrangements: The position is based in San Leandro, California, with up to 25% travel to the Los Lunas, New Mexico facility for the first two years during design and permitting. The role transitions to Los Lunas in 2028, after which the employer expects relocation to New Mexico or near-100% presence there. The role may require access to ITAR- or EAR-controlled information, which the employer restricts to U.S. persons, including lawful permanent residents and asylees or refugees with granted, not pending, status.
