Role
TerraPower is hiring a Commissioning Engineer to develop nuclear-island commissioning and operating plans for the Natrium Demonstration Plant. The role reports to the USO Commissioning Manager and coordinates engineers, operators and project managers.
The engineer develops commissioning procedures and integrated schedules, maintains plant and system requirements, and evaluates integrated controls and transient responses. Responsibilities also include supporting safety-analysis reports and overseeing commissioning tests against design criteria.
Requirements include an accredited B.S. in nuclear, mechanical, electrical or another relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent experience. Candidates need at least five years of direct nuclear-plant experience and five years of commercial nuclear-reactor operating experience, including Senior Reactor Operator qualification or equivalent. Commissioning-process experience, nuclear regulations, work control, maintenance and operating programs, configuration management, design-control tools and experience working to NQA-1 or ISO 9001 standards are required. ANSI/ANS 3.1 education and experience criteria apply.
Safety-related system responsibility, Shift Technical Advisor qualification, integrated nuclear-system design, operations and maintenance procedure development, Primavera P6 or similar scheduling tools, and risk-informed design methods are preferred. The application separately asks about ten or more years of nuclear operations, testing or commissioning experience, a higher screening threshold than the description states.
Travel is 0–10%. Physical duties include prolonged sitting, stairs and lifting up to 25 pounds, with accommodations assessed individually. Export-control review applies, and hiring may depend on timely government authorization.
