TerraPower is hiring a Manager, Plant Materials and Processes to develop, fabricate and qualify materials for Natrium reactor systems and components. The manager leads engineers providing material-performance data and establishing qualified suppliers.
Responsibilities include technical supplier development, approval of material-property datasets under ASME NQA-1-2015, oversight of metallic-material performance models and validation tests, and support for licensing. The manager controls schedules and budgets, reviews deliverables, enforces safety and quality practices, develops staff and engages regulators on materials-engineering issues.
Requirements include an accredited bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline and at least eight years of related nuclear experience, including two years of supervisory or equivalent people leadership. Candidates need ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III experience, metallurgy and thermomechanical processing knowledge for ferrous and nonferrous alloys, and advanced nuclear quality, design-control and configuration-management experience. Work in stringent quality systems such as ISO 9001 or AS9100 and a record of planning, budgeting and executing testing or modeling are required. ANSI/ANS 3.1 criteria apply.
ASME NQA-1 and 10 CFR 50 Appendix B experience are highly desired. Reactor-plant design knowledge and sodium fast-reactor experience are advantages. The application specifically asks about metallurgy/materials-engineering education and design or certification of complex engineered systems.
Bellevue and Everett are both available locations. Travel is 0–10%. Physical duties include prolonged sitting, stairs and lifting up to 25 pounds, with accommodations assessed individually. Export-control review applies, and hiring may depend on timely government authorization.
