TerraPower is hiring a Test and Fill Facility Operator to support commissioning, operation, maintenance and modification of facility systems. During construction, the operator helps develop procedures and prepare mechanical, electrical, process and control systems for operation.
Duties include walkdowns, functional tests and system turnover, routine operation, startup and shutdown, and responses to abnormal conditions. The operator performs preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoots equipment, maintains configuration records and supports field modifications. Work follows lockout/tagout, confined-space, hot-work and energized-work controls, job-hazard analyses and pre-job briefs.
Requirements include an associate degree in a technical field or equivalent military or industrial experience, plus at least five years in industrial operations, power generation, test facilities, chemical processing or similar high-consequence environments. Candidates need mechanical and/or electrical maintenance and troubleshooting experience, the ability to interpret P&IDs, schematics and technical drawings, experience with structured procedures and configuration control, and a strong safety record.
Nuclear, sodium-cooled or inert-gas systems experience is preferred, along with commissioning, system turnover, PLC/DCS knowledge, CMMS use, military nuclear propulsion or similar operational experience, and welding, fabrication or mechanical modification skills.
Travel is 0–10%. Physical duties include prolonged sitting, stairs and lifting up to 25 pounds, with accommodations assessed individually. Export-control review applies, and hiring may depend on timely government authorization.
