Role
The Nuclear Company is hiring a Nuclear Engineer I through its Engineering I early-career program for Spring 2027 graduates beginning full-time work in Summer 2027, with roles in Columbia, South Carolina; Lexington, Kentucky; and Washington, District of Columbia. Participants join experienced engineers, constructors, licensing professionals, project leaders and Members of Nuclear Staff on active nuclear deployment work.
Responsibilities begin in an assigned discipline with exposure across the project lifecycle, potentially spanning mechanical systems and equipment, piping, pumps, valves, heat exchangers and rotating equipment, system design and calculations, equipment specifications and vendor evaluations, layout, civil and structural engineering, construction and project delivery including contractor coordination and field issue resolution, nuclear licensing strategy and submittals, supply chain and procurement, and systems engineering.
Experience targets students currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Nuclear, Construction or Engineering Management or a closely related discipline, expecting graduation December 2026 to May 2027 with availability for Summer 2027 start; strong fundamentals, academic, internship, research, design-team, laboratory, construction or project experience showing initiative; ability to learn quickly; strong analytical and quantitative skills; clear communication; cross-disciplinary teamwork; attention to detail and respect for rigor; and interest in nuclear energy and large-scale infrastructure. Stated compensation is $80,000 annually, paid bi-weekly.
