The Nuclear Company is hiring a Senior QA Engineer - NQA-1 Program Development to build its quality program and later support inspection and test engineering. The initial focus is authoring implementing procedures with engineering, procurement, construction, licensing and other departments, taking them through review and approval.
Responsibilities: Develop Tier-3 procedures with subject-matter experts, review inspection/test procedures and acceptance criteria, and identify applicable codes and standards. Set witness and hold points, maintain audit-ready quality records and report conditions adverse to quality through corrective-action processes. The role reports to the Senior Manager of Quality, with stop-work authority and direct access to the CNO.
Requirements: An engineering bachelor’s degree or 10+ years of field experience in the discipline. Candidates also need 3+ years working under ASME NQA-1 and/or 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, with demonstrated authorship of implementing procedures that survived review and implementation. Relevant code proficiency, technical writing, cross-functional coordination and ability to qualify to company procedures are required. NQA-1 Lead Auditor certification is not required; a contracted qualified service performs audits.
Preferred experience: Nuclear new-build, construction or commissioning; discipline depth and associated codes; ASQ CQE/CQA; auditor participation; startup procedure development; EDMS; ISO 9001/19443; and metrics tools.
Eligibility: For export-control compliance, applicants must be U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, protected individuals under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
