The Nuclear Company is hiring a Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead analysis and design of mechanical systems and components for operating nuclear plants, new builds and advanced reactor projects. The role supports corporate initiatives and construction with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Responsibilities: Develop calculations, drawings, specifications and modification packages, assessing system integrity and performance. Diagnose equipment failures and support causal analysis and corrective actions. Review vendor documentation, guide junior engineers, coordinate with civil, electrical and instrumentation-and-controls teams, and contribute to quality programs and technical reports.
Requirements: A B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university, an Engineering in Training (EIT) license and 8+ years of engineering experience. Candidates need strong mechanical-engineering fundamentals, proficiency in tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or ANSYS, and communication and problem-solving skills. They must be capable of obtaining security clearance for unescorted access to a nuclear station.
Preferred experience: PE licensure, causal analysis, qualified standard design, AI-enhanced simulation and digital-twin or smart-monitoring familiarity.
Eligibility: For export-control compliance, applicants must be U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, protected individuals under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
