Role
Valar Atomics is hiring a Construction Quality Inspector to support field quality on its high-temperature gas reactor (HTGR) construction and associated infrastructure projects in Orangeville, Utah. Valar acts as general contractor, so the inspector verifies work across subcontracted civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and fabrication trades. The position is designed for early-career candidates building construction quality experience in advanced nuclear.
Responsibilities: The inspector supports inspection and verification of construction, fabrication, installation and testing against approved drawings, specifications, procedures, travelers and work packages. Duties include assisting with hold and witness points, turnover documentation and material traceability checks, keeping inspection records complete and audit-ready, and escalating discrepancies, missing documentation or workmanship concerns to Construction Quality leadership. The role works directly with subcontractors, craft labor, engineers and field personnel and supports field walkdowns.
Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent, the ability to read basic engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions, strong attention to detail and basic computer proficiency for digital records. Candidates must be comfortable working in active industrial construction settings, including outdoor conditions, elevated structures, confined spaces, noise, dust and vibration, and be willing to work extended hours and weekends when schedules require.
Preferred experience: An associate degree, technical certification, trade school, military technical experience or relevant coursework; prior industrial construction, fabrication, quality inspection or trades experience; familiarity with construction drawings, material traceability and inspection processes; work in nuclear, power, aerospace, defense or similar regulated settings; and use of dimensional measurement tools.
Working arrangements: This is a hands-on field role at active construction sites. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
