Major 2026 development: NRA new-regulatory-standard screening effectively completed 2026-09-10 (Asahi, NTV, Denki Shimbun, Nikkei, FNN), moving Japan's first post-Fukushima reactor toward completion; status moved from suspended to Under construction. 1,373 MWe ABWR, construction began 2006 and near-complete when suspended after 3/11. Anti-seismic reinforcement and remaining safety work to complete by FY2028; Chugoku Electric targets operation start FY2030 (by March 2031), pending NRA formal approval and local consent.
