Focused Energy, a Darmstadt-based laser inertial fusion company, plans its first laser fusion power plant at RWE's former Biblis nuclear station in Hesse, which already has grid infrastructure. In 2026 it raised a $240 million Series A led by RWE and is bidding, with Hesse, for a federal 'laser fusion hub' at Biblis.
