Utah isotope company Nusano is developing modular HALEU production units using an accelerator-based electromagnetic separation process that works on solid uranium metal instead of UF6 gas. It was selected in 2026 for DOE/NRIC's Nuclear Energy Launch Pad program; each 1,200 sq ft unit is designed for 5.9 tonnes of HALEU a year, with the first commercial unit targeted for 2031.

haleu output is per-unit design output (5.9 t/yr per unit), not a plant total. The 2025 claim of 350 t/yr by 2029 and Q4 2026 samples has been superseded by a 2031 first-unit target. Technology unproven at commercial scale; NRC framework is built around UF6. Selection month (Sept 2026) is inferred from NEI article image date.
