Maanshan Nuclear Power Plant

Restart planned · Taiwan

Maanshan's two 936 MWe PWRs closed in July 2024 and May 2025, ending nuclear power in Taiwan. After a law change allowing 60-year licences and a non-binding referendum, Taipower filed a restart plan in March 2026 and the Nuclear Safety Commission approved it in September 2026; operation could resume as early as 2028.
