Tokai Daini (Tokai Unit 2)

Approved · Japan · Post-Fukushima restart

Tokai 2 is Japan Atomic Power's 1,060 MWe (net) BWR, the closest Japanese reactor to Tokyo. It holds NRA approval (2018) and a licence to run to 60 years, but its safety works, including a 17-metre seawall found defective in 2023, now run to the second half of FY2028, and local evacuation plans are unfinished.
