Kewaunee Power Station

Active dismantling · United States · Mixed

Kewaunee, a single-unit Westinghouse PWR on Lake Michigan, closed in May 2013 and sat in SAFSTOR until EnergySolutions bought it from Dominion in 2022 to dismantle it. EnergySolutions and WEC Energy are now also exploring new reactors at the site and told the NRC in January 2026 they expect to file a licensing application by June 2028.
