Ringhals Units 1 and 2

Active dismantling · Sweden · Immediate dismantling

Ringhals 2 (end-2019) and Ringhals 1 (end-2020) were closed early by owners Vattenfall and Uniper after a 2015 economic decision, while Ringhals 3 and 4 continue to run. Radiological dismantling started around 2022-23 with Westinghouse segmenting the vessels and internals, and is planned to last almost a decade, generating about 340,000 t of waste.
